Installation of the pedestrian and cyclist overpass - Major works - 19-22 February 2021
From 19 - 22 February 2021, The Regency Road to Pym Street (R2P) Project will install the pedestrian and cyclist overpass (overpass) near Pym Street, Croydon Park. The overpass will provide important east-west connectivity between Torrens Road and Regency Road.
The overpass will span 57 metres over both the North-South Motorway and South Road surface roads. It will connect into landscaped pathways on both sides of South Road and support pedestrian and cyclist connectivity to surrounding destinations.
The overpass will be lifted into its final location over both the North-South Motorway and South Road surface roads, on the northern side of Pym Street, Croydon Park.
Road asphalting and kerbing works will also be undertaken along South Road, between Packard Avenue and Regency Road, Croydon Park.
A road gantry and concrete road barriers will be installed along South Road, between Tait Street and Overland Road, Croydon Park.
Road signage will be installed along South Road, between Tait Street and Regency Road, Croydon Park.
To enable the works to be safely undertaken South Road and the North-South Motorway will be temporarily closed, from 7pm Friday, 19 February 2021, until 5am Monday, 22 February 2021, including the closure of:
• South Road, between Torrens Road and Regency Road, in both directions
• the North-South Motorway for northbound traffic from the on-ramp near Hindmarsh Avenue
• the North-South Motorway for southbound traffic from the off-ramp near Grand Junction Road.
Signage will be in place to give motorists advance notice and advise of the upcoming closures and alternate routes.
Alternate routes for local traffic will be available via Regency Road, Torrens Road and Days Road, into side streets.
Alternate routes for through traffic will be available via Regency Road, Churchill Road and Torrens Road on the eastern side, and via Torrens Road and Regency Road on the western side.
