Community artwork

Fri., 06 November, 2020

Since late 2019, the R2P Alliance has been engaging with the local community to identify priorities to improve the community they live in. Key priorities include open space and parks, landscaping, pubic and community art and play spaces.

In response, the R2P Alliance has been investigating opportunities and delivering programs.

A pedestrian and cyclist overpass (overpass) is being constructed at the north-east and north-west corners of Pym Street, to provide important east-west connectivity between Torrens Road and Regency Road.

The R2P Project is commissioning an artist/artist team to create an interconnecting public art mural at the base of the overpass. The overpass precast concrete retaining walls and under-stair walls have been identified as the most suitable areas to deliver community artwork.

The objective is to create a vibrant, welcoming and distinctive place for the community. The inclusion of high-quality contemporary public art murals for this high activity area will serve to enhance quality of life, public experience and community pride for residents and visitors.
